An important step in developing musicality is having a sense of one’s own body. It is being aware of rhythms created with your hands or feet, of sensing the smallest movements that become so important; it is recognizing qualities such as staccato, legato, strong or delicate in your muscles.
Playful explorations with ten fingers, two legs, a head and two knees open a deeper access to physical and kinesthetic experiences and are inspirations for expanding a child’s repertoire of thoughts, actions and feelings in a musical and aesthetic way.
Discussion and reflections of artistic-pedagogical approaches to teaching movement in music classes support the physical work.
Please prepare for the session by:
- participating in a room that is cleared out enough so that you can take – if possible – two large steps in all directions
- wearing comfortable clothes for moving and anti-slip socks or shoes
- having access to a stable chair
